  • Is there a schedule for Magnitude Dance Australia DOTC 2025?
    Yes! Here is the proposed 2025 DOTC schedule: Wednesday July 16th Morning Session 1: GROUPS (Babies, Mini, Petite, Junior, Novice) Afternoon Session 2: SOLOS/DUOS/TRIOS/TITLES (Babies, Mini, Petite, Junior) Thursday July 17th Morning Session 3: GROUPS (Teens, Seniors, Pre-Professional, Novice) Afternoon Session 4: SOLOS/DUOS/TRIOS/TITLES (Teens, Seniors, Pre-Professional) PLEASE NOTE IT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE (we always do our best to keep dates as advertised).
  • What is the cut-off date for ages?
    2025 DOTC: Groups: Age is AVERAGE AGE as of Dec 31st 2024. Solos: Age is at Jan 1st 2025. Duos/Trios: Age is as the OLDEST member as of Jan 1st 2025. We adjust the cut off dates per season to keep our comp fair and friendly! Please refer to Syllabus & Rules TERMS & CONDITIONS.
  • How do I know what age, level & style category to enter?
    Age Categories: Babies = 6/u Mini = 8/u Petite = 10/u Junior = 12/u Teen = 14/u Senior = 15/o Level Categories: Novice = a performer has never won that specific category. Elite = a performer has already won that specific category. Pre Professional = a performer is currently completing full time or a certificate performance course, or has already graduated. Dance Style Categories: Competitors should ask their dance teachers for support in choosing their style. NB: Song & Dance styles must have live vocals, no pre recorded vocals. Musical Theatre can be in the style of any Broadway show. Lip syncing can replace live vocals. Ballet & Demi Character events can only be performed en pointe for dancers aged 12yrs & over. EXAMPLE: Mary Smith is 9 years old as of Jan 1st 2025 and has come 2nd place in her hip hop dance solo in the past, and 1st place for her ballet. She has never competed her duo with John who is 11 years old as of Jan 1st 2025. Mary should enter the Petite Novice Hip Hop Solo, Petite Elite Ballet Solo and Junior Novice Duo. Refer to Syllabus & Rules STYLES & CATEGORIES.
  • How do I upload my Music?
    Entrants will be sent a link to our Magnitude Music Uploads Platform once entries have closed. You will be required to upload your Music File and include information such as Entrant Name, Dance Routine Name & Dance Style. Uploads close 1 week before your event start date - any alterations require a $10 alteration fee to be paid.
  • Is there a limit on how many times I can enter?
    DANCE OF THE CHAMPIONS: Each solo dancer may enter up to 2x routine per level, per age. Each duo/trio pair may enter up to 2x routine per level, per age. Dancers may enter 1x Title only. Title Routines cannot be a repeat dance but can be any solo style. Studios may enter up to 2x Small Group routines per age. Studios may enter up to 2x Large Group routines per age. Studios may enter up to 2x Extra Large Group routines per age. REGIONALS: Each solo dancer/singer may enter 1x routine per level, per style, per age, with the exception of Tap (limit = 3) and Own Choice (limit = 2) so long as they are contrasting. Each improvisation soloist may enter 1x improvisation per style, per age. Each duo/trio pair may enter 1x routine per level, per style, per age. Maximum of 2x entries per pair/trio or differing genres. Each dancer entering a duo/trio improvisation may enter 1x duo/trio improvisation per style, per age. Dancers can have a different or the same partner for each style. Dancers may enter 1x Title only. Title Routines cannot be a repeat dance but can be any solo style. Studios may enter up to 2x Small Group routines per style, per age. Studios may enter up to 2x Large Group routines per style, per age. Studios may enter up to 2x Extra Large Group routines per style, per age. Late entry registrations may be accepted on the day pending numbers.
  • Why can we only enter 2x routines per category at DOTC?
    DOTC is a Strictly Limited Event. To keep the event 'boutique' we only open up 100 solo spots & 80 group spots in total! So that lots of people have the chance to be a part of Magnitude DOTC, we limit the number of entries each performer and studio can make. BUT - we have a waitlist! So if you'd like to perform with more routines, email us to join the waitlist.
  • How can I join the Waitlist?

  • How much is it to enter the competition?
    Entry Fees for our 2025 Dance of the Champions Event help to cover the cost of the venue, judges, celebrity MCs & faculty, employees, lighting, sound, music licensing, flooring, prizes, event managers etc and keep our Regional Celebrity Workshops FREE for our Magnitude Superstars! Entry Fees for Magnitude Dance Australia DOTC 2025 are: Performer Registration = $36 Solos = $32 Duos = $55 Trios = $60 Titles = $40 Studio Registration = $15 Small Groups = $45 Large Groups = $55 Extra Large Groups = $65 LATE ENTRY FEES APPLY FOR LATE ENTRIES. All prices are in AUD.
  • I missed out on entering! Are you accepting Late Entries?
    Late Entries for 2025 DOTC are now open, and close 1 month before event start dates, or when events are full. Email magnitudedanceaus@gmail.com with the subject line LATE ENTRY to enquire about entering if your preferred category is no longer displayed online. Sometimes events sell out and we can put you on the waitlist.
  • What awards and prizes are up for grabs?
    At Magnitude Dance we have HEAPS of awesome prizes & awards for our performers. Every performance receives a score that entitles them to a: Diamond Award, Platinum Award, Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award or Jewel Award. These personal awards are based on their score, which is determined by a fair marking system as we believe consistency when judging is key! On top of this, competitors may become eligible for First Overall Awards in their categories and/or age divisions. We also have so many special awards per session, including - but not limited to - Technique 'Shining Star' Awards, Passion 'Bright Star' Awards, Potential 'Rising Star' Awards, 'Magnitude Attitude' for Sportsmanship Awards, Most Entertaining Awards, Broadway Bound Awards, Costume Awards and Choreography Awards. We also have a huge list of Special Encouragement and Scholarship Awards - that all come with cash, voucher or loot prizes, and of course our Title Winners and Runner Ups. PLUS we have Audience Awards! Bring your cheers because they might just win you a free drink, lollipop or merch!!! You never know when a T-Shirt Toss is coming! AND our audience fave, the 'Dance Your Heart Out Award' is returning - get pumped because at any moment we will pause our comp and have a 1min dance party! For everyone to join in! Audience, performers, crew, volunteers, everyone! Bring your moves and you might just win big!!! All entrants receive a personalised certificate and hand written report from their judges. We then also have way too many medallions, trophies, cash prizes, vouchers, workshops, crowns and scholarship prizes to give away throughout the comp! Some event winners may be offered Ambassador Reign positions for 2025. Plus the chance to perform at the Magnitude Dance of the Champions!   • What is the time limit for routines?
    Time limits for performances include your set up/pack up/entrance/exit time. If you have a lot of set piece/props please consider this before your performance. For ALL Babies, Mini & Petite DANCE & VOCAL Solos, Duos/Trios = 2.5mins stage time. For ALL Junior, Teen & Senior & Pre-Professional DANCE & VOCAL Solos, Duos/Trios = 3mins stage time. For ALL DANCE & VOCAL Small Groups = 4mins stage time. For ALL DANCE & VOCAL Large & Extra-Large Groups = 5mins stage time. Once the time limit has been exceeded, points will be deducted in the following way: 1-5seconds overtime = .5point deduction, 6-10seconds overtime = additional 1point deduction, 11-15seconds overtime = additional 1.5point deduction, 16-20seconds overtime = additional 2point deduction, 21seconds+ overtime = your music will be stopped and adjudication will cease for that performance. Stage time commences when either the performer enters the stage, or the music commences - whichever comes first.
  • My child is wanting to enter the Title. What do we need to do to qualify?
    Great! To qualify for the Title Scholarship at DOTC you must perform in at least 2x Elite Solo Events at that DOTC. One solo dance must be performed to compete for the Title Scholarship Prize. This dance routine cannot be a repeat and can be any solo dance style. Chookas!
  • REGIONALS - My dancer has a slow, waltz and speed tap solo. Can we enter them all in the Tap Category?
    Yes! If this is the case, contact us at magnitudedanceaus@gmail.com and, numbers permitting, we will be able to help accomodate your needs to compete contrasting tap styles in the Tap category. Alternatively, an elite dancer with two tap routines may perform one in the Elite Tap category and one in the Title Scholarship.
  • REGIONALS - My child is not competing but would like to attend the workshop. Is this possible?
    Absolutely it is! The Magnitude Workshops are open to anyone who likes to dance and wants to have some fun with the judges and guest celebs! Ages are 12/under & 13/over. You can register online for the workshops. Single workshop passes are $20 per person and Double workshop passes are $30 per person when you purchase online. Head to our ENTER NOW tab and scroll until you find WORKSHOP PASSES to register!
  • REGIONALS - My child is competing - how do we register for the workshop/s?
    Awesome! If your child is a soloist, or a duo/trio member, you will get an email after you enter your Events with instructions on how to register for the workshop. If your child is part of a group, you can sign them up at the registration desk before or after their group performance. Please note that your studio director/teacher would've already provided us with numbers on group members, so please be honest! And guess what? The workshops are free for all performers!
  • When will I get my program and finalised event dates?
    Following the closing date of each season, our team will put together your program. We intend to distribute a Draft Program 10 - 14days after Season entries close, and the Final Program around 1 week prior to the Season start date. This gives you plenty of time to make your plans, as we at Magnitude understand just how important communication and organisation really is! You can rest assured that we will stick to the already-released proposed Schedule as closely as humanly possible. Teachers/Studio Directors will receive 24-48hours earlier than parents & students, as per our VIP Magnitude Teacher Perks Program :)
  • Why do entry fees differ at each Magnitude event?
    Event Entry Fees at Magnitude Dance Australia can fluctuate depending on the venue, judges and general cost of living (prizes etc). We always ensure we keep costs as low as possible, whilst still covering Judge's costs, venue hire, crew & equipment hire, MC & guest celeb faculty fees, employees, music licensing, insurance, tarkett, reports & prizes. We always keep our Admission Costs down, though! That's just another reason why we're so loved at Magnitude :)
  • I'm a studio director/teacher. What perks do I get at Magnitude?
    Hello! Thanks in advance for joining us at Magnitude Dance Australia. We have heaps of perks for you - the dedicated directors and teachers training the stars of tomorrow. Here's some of them: Free Season pass for up to 2x Studio Directors/Teachers per studio. This includes the spectator pass for the Workshops. These are non-transferable and we do request the Pass Holders' Info prior to the event, please. Allocated Reserve Parking in the carpark each day for up to 1x Studio Director/Teacher's vehicle. *Venue pending. A free cup of tea or coffee each day you attend - we've got you! Access to the Magnitude Dance Program a full 48hours before it goes live to the public and performers, so you can check it's correct and let us know if there's anything we need to alter for your students. We know you're busy, so we want to help you plan a calm, smooth, happy experience with us. Any changes for you during this time are complimentary. A designated backstage area just for your studio. This way our runners and crew know where to find you, and you can keep all your performers together. STUDENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM - We like to keep a strong sense of community at Magnitude Events. For this reason, at our events, we will be offering Studios the opportunity to have up to 5x Teen (13-14yrs) or Senior (15yrs+) Volunteers who would help out at one Magnitude Session. In return, the student volunteers receive 1x Free Solo Entry each! Please email us to receive this info. This program a) helps to keep the comp running smoothly & b) promotes friendship across studios. As pros ourselves, we love that the theatre is inclusive and value that the behind-the-scenes crew are just as vital as the onstage performers. We ask that Studio Directors/Teachers choose confident, compliant, responsible volunteers to represent their schools & Magnitude. We provide the training and attire, so there's zero stress for you and the students! If there's anything else you require, please get in touch with us and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs.     The Magnitude Team is tight-knit and runs like a well-oiled machine. But we often have openings for new recruits!   • How much is it to watch at Magnitude?
    Admission Tickets for our 2025 DOTC Event help to cover the cost of the venue, judges, celebrity MCs & faculty, employees, lighting, sound, music licensing, flooring, prizes etc. We know that a day out to the theatre can be pricey, but we also know you don't want to miss watching your dancing superstar hit the stage! So, we promise to always keep our costs as low as possible for you, the dancers' amazing support system. Admission Tickets for Magnitude Dance Australia Dance of the Champions can be purchased through the Laycock St Theatre Box Office. ADULT COSTS: $45 AUD CHILD UNDER 12 / CONCESSION COSTS: $35 AUD OTHER: Performers = $15 *in the session of their own performance. (This Pass is INCLUDED in Performer Registration Fee for Solo Sessions. Group Performers can purchase their optional spectator tickets through Box Office) Teacher = FREE Comp Ticket *with VIP Teacher Pass. All prices are in AUD. Tickets for DOTC can only be purchased through Laycock St Theatre. The box office is also open on the day to purchase tickets. Cash and card are accepted. Please note there is a surcharge for card purchases.
  • REGIONALS - Will there be food & drinks at Magnitude?
    Yes! We know you need your coffee or cuppa to keep you going, and the dancers need their fuel - so we are pleased to say we ALWAYS have food & drinks on offer at Magnitude. Many of our venues partner with us, and we often receive discounts from neighbouring cafes/restaurants, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for all the goss!
  • What happens if we can't come, or will be late, on the day?
    If you are unable to attend the competition, please contact magnitudedanceaus@gmail.com as soon as possible. We understand life happens, but as a general rule: unless your absence is caused by an extreme event or emergency, or sudden COVID-19 diagnosis (proof required), we don't offer refunds or credits. Please contact us if you're unsure, and we'll do our best to help. If you are running late, please email us as soon as possible as we may be able to accomodate your lateness. This is pending the cause/reasoning due to extreme circumstances e.g. 'car accident,' not 'missed my alarm.' We want you to have a fun day, so please help to keep our events running on schedule.
  • What is the Dance of the Champions?
    Magnitude Dance Australia's Dance of the Champions is an exciting performance showcase! It's a competition, but designed more like a showcase so that the emphasis is on the dancers rather than the prizes. But don't worry - there's still HEAPS of prizes! Who can perform at Dance of the Champions? 2025 DOTC is open to the public - any dancers (Novice & Elite!) who want the chance to be crowned ultimate Magnitude Champion can enter! Each performer can enter up to 2x routines into each category. Categories are NOVICE SOLO, ELITE SOLO, DUO/TRIO, SMALL GROUP, LARGE GROUP, X-LARGE GROUP, NOVICE GROUP. Who can compete for the TITLES at Dance of the Champions? Any elite soloist who performs in 2x Elite Solos can enter the Solo Title. Any studio who performs in 2x Groups can enter the Group Title.
